Stage 5: Of the 668 votes transferred to Berry from Fearon, Allen and Frazer (probably most from Frazer), 484 probably transferred further (though mathematically it could have been 242). In that case, 324 went to Kennedy and 152 to Speers, thus 476 (71.26%) to the UUP candidates; 4 to Fee and 2 to Feely, thus 6 (0.90%) to the SDLP candidates; 2 to Hyland and none to McNamee, thus 2 (0.30%) to the SF candidates with 184 (27.54%) non-transferable.

Stage 7: Of the 4094 votes transferred from Speers to Kennedy, 1002 probably transferred further (though mathematically it could have been 2004). In that case 535 went to Feely and 435 to Fee, thus 970 (23.69%) to the SDLP candidates; 14 to Hyland, 12 to McNamee and 6 to Murphy, thus 32 (0.78%) to the SF candidates with 3092 (75.53%) non-transferable.

A good result for the DUP; not so good for the UUP who held this parliamentary seat from 1983 to 1986. The three SF candidates balanced their votes well but one was overtaken by the SDLP's John Fee.
