Lisburn City Council Elections 1993 - 2011

The DUP continued to consolidate its position on Lisburn City Council, picking up an additional seat in Downshire DEA. This came at the expense of the UUP, who lost a second seat to the SDLP in Lisburn North. The once dominant UUP saw their share of the vote drop by a further six percent, their worst ever performance in Lisburn. Sinn Fein's share of the vote increased by four percent, makign them the second party, and they managed to pick up an additional seat in Dunmurry at the expense of the SDLP.

* A change in legislation in 2001 made it impossible for candidates to describe themselves as "Independent Unionist" or "Protestant Unionist". Also the UDP missed the deadline for resgistration of political parties for the election. Candidates from all three categories are therefore grouped with the other Independents. The two Independents who were elected described themselves on the Council website as "Unionist" and UDP shortly after the election.
