Sinn Fein picked up an additional seat from the DUP in Magherafelt Town DEA, giving them overall control of the Council. This is the first time the party has achieved overall control of a local governamnet council since the establishment of Northern Ireland. Also of note was the significant drop in the DUP vote of seven percent, largely to the benefit of the TUV and the a lesser extent the UUP.
