This
constituency
was formed from parts of the old Londonderry and
Mid-Ulster constituencies. Most of the old Foyle constituency
survived
as the new Foyle after 1995, with some
territory lost to West Tyrone. The Member
of
Parliament throughout this period was John Hume, also a member
of the
European Parliament.
