The definition of what I tmeans to be a victim and/or survivor of the Troubles/Conflict in Northern Ireland remains complex and contexted. However, a legal definition is as follows:

  • Someone who is or has been physically or psychologically injured as a consequence of a conflict-related incident.
  • Someone who provides a substantial amount of care on a regular basis for a person who is or has been physically or psychologically injured as a consequence of a conflict-related incident.
  • Someone who has been bereaved as a consequence of a conflict-related incident.
Someone may be psychologically injured as a consequence of:
  • Witnessing a conflict-related incident or the consequences of such an incident.
