Derry City Council Elections 1993-2011

Very little of note in the 2011 elections for Derry City Council. Party strength on the council remains identical to the 2005 result with no seats changing hands. The SDLP's share of the popular vote fell by almost three percent, consistent with the trend over the last several elections. However, Derry was the SDLP's best result of the election and also the UUP's worst result.

* A change in legislation in 2001 meant that it was no longer possible to stand as an "Independent Unionist". The Independent candidates in 2001 include Jim Guy, elected as an Ind U in 1997. They also include three unsuccessful candidates supported by the Socialist Environmental Alliance (Colm Bryce in Northland, Shauna Deery in Cityside, and William Webster in Waterside).
