Questions on Transport were asked in the 1999 Northern Ireland Life and Times (NILT) survey.
Questions were also asked of 12-17 year olds in the Young Life and Times Survey in 1999.

Questions on Road Safety were asked in the 2019 NILT survey.

• Visit the Translink web site to learn more about the organisation and future of Northern Ireland transport.
  
• The Department for Regional Development is responsible for transport in Northern Ireland. The Regional Transportation Strategy for Northern Ireland 2002-2012 was published on 3 July 2002. This identifies strategic transportation investment priorities and considers potential funding sources and affordability of planned initiatives over the next 10 years.
  
• The General Consumer Council (GCC) has produced a report (in PDF format) on the Transport Trap - on how transport disadvantages poorer people. This site also lists press releases published by the GCC, many of which relate to public transport in Northern Ireland. The Transport Watchdog report outlines the GCC transport policy.
  
• The Friends of the Earth web site has a section dedicated to the Atmosphere and Transport Campaign. Information on local transport issues can be found on the pages for the Northern Ireland branch. In particular, 2 briefing papers on the future of railways are available in PDF format (Railways: ruin or revival, and Out of the Shadows).
