Men's Life and Times Resources

Questions on Men's Life and Times were asked in the Northern Ireland Life and Times (NILT) survey in 2000 and 2004.
Questions were also asked of 12-17 year olds in the Young Life and Times Survey in 2000.

• Mystery Man? (Research Update 38) by Paula Devine is based on 2004 Life and Times data.
• Men in the Mirror (Research Update 7) by Steve Biddulph is based on data from the 2000 NILT survey..
• Men and Women in Northern Ireland: Challenging the Stereotypes (Research Update 1) by Lizanne Dowds, Gillian Robinson, Ann Marie Gray and Deirdre Heenan, looks at attitudes to gender roles.
  
• The Men's Health in Numbers project collated key statistics on men's health on the island of Ireland. Outputs included a report (published in 2020), as well as a report card on men's health in Northern Ireland and in the Republic of Ireland in 2024.

• The Men's Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI) is a voluntary network of individuals and organisations, men and women, who wish to redress this deficit by collating the key concerns relating to men's health on the island of Ireland as well as increasing understanding of these issues.
• Global Action on Men's Health is a collaborative project that brings together men’s health organisations, and others which share their objectives.
• The Men's Health Forum in UK web site is aimed at health professionals, researchers and policy-makers and provides statistics, examples of good practice, resource lists and links on men's health issues.
• The Fatherhood Institute is an interactive site dedicated to supporting positive images/models of fatherhood.
• XY is a website focused on men, masculinities, and gender politics. As well as a forum for debate, the site provides a resource library for reports, articles and manuals.
  
• The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland is an independent public body established under the Northern Ireland Act 1998, and replaces the Equality Opportunities Commission for Northern Ireland. Its responsibilities include discrimination based on sex or on sexual orientation.
• The remit of the Department for Communities includes gender equality and sexual orientation.
