Sarah Lawrence

Sarah began her PhD studentship in May 2014 with the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work at Queen’s University Belfast. Her research interests include the health and wellbeing of this growing population and the implication that this growth will have on the services provided by the criminal justice system, as well as local and national health authorities.

Sarah’s project focussed upon the experiences of men over fifty years old held in custody in Northern Ireland, using a mixed methodology approach. It is perceived that the research will primarily impact upon future policy development in relation to the needs of older people in prison.

Sarah’s supervisors were Dr Paula Devine, Dr Siobhán McAlister, and Dr Nicola Carr.
