We have several events organised in the next few months, and we hope you can join us. In particular, we are very excited about our first short film competition. Find out more details below.
Textile Language of Conflicts: colloquium and exhibition
CAIN and Conflict Textiles will host two events in Magee campus, Ulster University, focusing on the use of arpilleras to stimulate awareness and conversations in relation to human rights violations in war-torn and post-conflict societies. Arpilleras are three-dimensional appliqued tapestries that originated in Chile. An exhibition of 24 arpilleras will be held in Minor Hall, 6-10 November, 9am to 5pm. The launch with guided tour will take place on Monday 6th (6pm), and another guided tour will be held on Friday 10th (2-3pm). An international colloquium on 6-7 November will consider key questions around human rights violations and practice using textiles to document, testify and memorialise the lived experiences of human rights violations. This event is by invitation only.
