Introduction
Welcome to the April edition of the ARK newsletter. At the end of 2016, our three annual surveys collected the opinions and attitudes of children, young people and adults living in Northern Ireland. In this newsletter, you can find out when these results will be publicly available. The newsletter also focuses on ARK's resources on autism, given that April is Autism Awareness month.
ARK surveys - 2016
During September to December 2016, ARK carried out its three attitudes surveys:
Over 7,000 people took part, and we would like to thank them all for giving their time and opinions. An event to launch the findings of YLT and KLT surveys will take place on 10 May in Queen's University Belfast - full details are below. The results from the NILT survey will launched at an event in mid-June. More information will be available in our May newsletter.
Launch of results of YLT and KLT surveys
ARK is holding a joint results launch event for the 2016 Kids' Life and Times (KLT) and Young Life and Times (YLT) surveys. We are delighted that Mark Browne (Director, Finance, Strategic Policy, Equality and Good Relations in The Executive Office) has agreed to give the opening address. The event will be held on 10 May 2017 13.30-15.30, in the Canada Room, Lanyon Building, Queen's University Belfast. The event is free, but places are limited, and so need to be booked in advance. ARK Ageing student and SPA Insight into Publishing Scheme
We're very pleased that Alexandra Chapman is one of two UK post-graduates selected to take part in the Social Policy Association Insight into Publishing Scheme being run with the journal Social Policy and Society.
The scheme is designed to give postgraduate researchers a better understanding of the process and requirements of publishing in an established journal. Alexandra will work with the current editors over several months to gain an insight into all stages of the publication process. Alexandra is a PhD student with the ARK Ageing Programme and is based in Ulster University.
